Colony — Ant Sandbox
Top-down god-mode ant-colony sandbox. Hundreds of ants self-organise pheromone trails to haul food home; deliveries stock a reserve that hatches new workers, while spiders hunt the colony and rain storms wash the trails away. Place food, walls and scent trails, chase score milestones, and tune the swarm live with sliders.
# Colony A top-down, god-mode **ant-colony sandbox**. Hundreds of ants stream from a central nest, forage for food, and haul it home — laying two-channel pheromone trails (HOME-scent + FOOD-scent) that decay and diffuse over a 192×192 field rendered as a live heatmap through a custom surface shader. Strong trails recruit more ants, so efficient paths **self-organize** with no central planning. ## Play - **New Colony** to begin. It's endless — your score is total food delivered. - **Tools** (bottom bar): Place **Food**, build **Wall** barriers, **Erase**, or **Move Nest** — click on the ground. - **Sliders** tune the colony live: population, deposit strength, decay, sensor angle/reach, wander. - **Top-right**: pause / 1× / 2× / 4× sim speed, toggle the heatmap overlay. - **Settings**: volumes, overlay hue scheme (two-hue / colourblind / classic heat), ant-count cap. - Your best score, colony parameters, and placed layout **persist** — use **Continue**. Built as one self-contained world-component: the pheromone field, instanced ants, the custom heatmap + ant shaders, the god-mode tools, and the full zui UI.
