Raise the Roof
A base-building playground and the home of buildPlaceKit, a survival-style build mode you can install into your own Zero world in one step.
Play
- Arrival: you spawn at the south end of the plaza with 1,500 coins, looking up a paved aisle. A finished hut stands on each side, one rustic with a thatched roof and one sci-fi with a flat roof, and a welcome board lists the controls.
- Galleries: straight ahead, either side of the aisle, stand every one of the 24 pieces, Frontier style (timber, dry stone, thatch) on the left and Outpost style (hull panels, glowing trim) on the right. Each piece stands on a plinth, with a card by the aisle giving its name and price.
- Build yard: at the end of the aisle a signpost points to three plots, one per snap mode. Each has its own coloured kerb and its name painted on the ground:
- Grid (orange): the 3 m cells are drawn on the ground. Floors land on cells, walls on the lines, posts on the corners. Hotbar menu, hologram ghost.
- Surface (cyan): pieces sit exactly where you aim. There's a deck, a gentle slope, a rock too steep to build on, a wall for torches and ladders, and crates. Radial wheel, blueprint ghost.
- Piece to piece (yellow and black): walls click onto floor edges, roofs onto wall tops, doors into doorways. Start on the foundation pad and build a hut. Catalogue menu, wireframe ghost.
- Builder ranks: every 8 pieces you place raises your rank and pays a 150-coin bonus.

The ghost turns green where a piece fits. It turns red inside another piece, inside a player, in mid-air, on steep ground or outside the plot. If you can't afford a piece, you get a clear message and nothing is built. Everything you build is shared with every player, including anyone who joins later. Building is multiplayer-safe: one machine decides every placement, so two players never end up with two pieces in one spot.
Put it in your own world
- Search ZeroMind for buildPlaceKit and install it. One install brings everything it needs: economyKit for wallets and prices, juiceKit for the thud and dust, gridKit for grid cells, and the wood, stone, masonry and sci-fi materials.
- Add this line inside
content()in your scene'sbuild.luau:
require("buildPlaceKit.api").BuildMode {}
- Press Play and press B.
Change the style, ghost look, menu or snap mode with one setting each, limit which pieces a zone offers, set prices, and add your own pieces and styles.
Guides
Two guides come inside the package:
- How do I let players build walls, floors and roofs in my game? What the kit gives you and how its pieces, styles, snap modes, ghosts, menus, prices and multiplayer fit together.
- Make a base building survival game, step by step. From an empty world to a small multiplayer game where players collect coins and build themselves a shelter, with buildPlaceKit, economyKit, juiceKit and gridKit.
Version 1.0.18 was installed straight from ZeroMind into a brand new world on the current engine and its 22 tests passed there twice. Its play checks (all three snap modes, the refusals and the example game) were made in fresh worlds for earlier releases and carry over, since the releases since then change only one test, the way the package writes its description, and the texts.
