What it does

CraneCam

Paper Sky's camera behavior — the thing Camera.behavior points at on the player prototype's rig.

It stands off the flight plane on +Z, so the world's +X runs left-to-right and the game reads the way it plays. leadX puts the crane about a third in from the left; followY decides how much of the crane's height the frame inherits, so a hard flap does not yank the shot.

Every knob is a serialized public field: sideDistance, leadX, height, followY, smoothing. Tune the shot by changing numbers.

Owned by slice C. Slice B may read sideDistance and height to frame the backdrop.

It exists because a builtin behavior's fields do not persist with the scene — retuning @builtin::controller.side_scroller reported success and reverted on the next load.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

zero/source-extract/v2

Paper Sky — the view, and how it reacts. A camera behavior (the thing `Camera.behavior` points at). It stands off to one side of the flight plane, keeps the crane about a third in from the left, and follows its height loosely so a hard flap does not yank the frame. Everything here is a serialized public field, so the shot is tuned by changing numbers rather than by editing this file. It also carries the game's reactions. A flap dips the frame and springs it back, a cleared gap ticks it forward, a crumple shakes it and punches the lens wide; the frame rolls a little against the crane's climb so the view is never rigid. All of it is additive on top of the framing above, so retuning the shot and retuning the feel do not fight. Finally it is the game's mount point. This behavior is the one piece of code that runs on the local player's camera and nothing else, which makes it the right place to put the screen and the sound on the line: it spawns one temporary `PaperSkyFeel` entity carrying `PaperSkyHud` and `Juice`, and takes it away again when the camera goes. Slice C owns this file. Slice B may want `sideDistance` and `height` for framing the backdrop — read them, do not rewrite them.

myId( ) → string

Exactly one interface per client. A scene reload or a hot reload can leave a second camera standing for a frame, and two screens fighting over one registration is invisible until it flickers — so the claim is recorded in `Rules.singletons`, the same way the course records its own.

onFollowChanged(_newTarget: any, _oldTarget: any) → void

The Camera component tells its behavior when `follow` is repointed — which happens once per peer, when the PlayerPrototype clone hands this camera the crane it minted. Drop the smoothed height so the first frame on a new crane is framed on that crane rather than gliding over from the old one.
