The skitter, the brute and the titan wear this one material: wet black chitin with rivers of cyan-green running through the joints of it. The seams are a ridged noise field in the body's own frame rather than a texture, so they run along the same anatomy on a creature the size of a dog and on one forty metres tall. The shell keeps almost no albedo and the seams, the rim and the death flare do the work, which is what survives being forty pixels tall in a tide of six thousand.
