What it does

ui.journal.df_plates

Two jobs.

The gate. Plates.normalise(tree, size) is what every species' own plate(size) passes through before it reaches the page: it maps the plate vocabulary onto real widget types, lifts widget data written at the top level of a node into props, gives an svg the page's ink when it names no colour, drops anything outside the vocabulary, and strips interactivity so a plate can never take the click that selects the specimen.

The drawings. Plates.drawn(id, size) is the book's own ink figure of each of the thirteen animals, used when a species module ships no plate() of its own. A species that provides one always wins.

/zero/source/ui/journal/README.md publishes the vocabulary in full.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

df_plates — the plate vocabulary, and the book's own hand-drawn plates. Two jobs: 1. `Plates.normalise(tree, size)` is the gate every species' own `plate(size)` passes through. It maps the plate vocabulary onto real widget types, drops anything outside it, and strips interactivity, so a plate authored by a fauna slice can never break the page it is drawn on or steal the click that selects the specimen. 2. `Plates.drawn(id, size)` is the journal's own ink drawing of each of the thirteen animals, used when a species module ships no `plate()` of its own. A species that provides one always wins — these exist so the book is a complete object rather than a grid of empty boxes. The vocabulary is published in this slice's README. In short: `svg` is the primitive a plate should be made of, `container`/`vertical`/`horizontal` compose, `label` annotates, and `style` is the ordinary CSS surface. Slice owner: journal.

normalise(tree: any, size: number) → any

Run a species' own plate through the vocabulary. Returns nil if the species has no plate, if it errored, or if nothing survived the gate — the caller then falls back to the book's own drawing.
