What it does

theme

The look of every screen in First Light: Betocsin, in one place: the palette, the type scale, the metrics, the drawn devices, and the two pieces every card is assembled from.

local T = require("game.screens.theme")
local m = T.metrics()
local tree = T.card(m, { id = "flb_title", children = { ... } })

What it holds

T.colorThe tinctures, by their heraldic names — azure, argent, or_, gules — plus the night grounds and the dawn ramp's indigo / rose / ember.
T.fontThree families: display (EB Garamond), body (PT Serif), numeral (Cousine).
T.metrics()Everything a layout needs, off the LIVE ui.screenSize(): the type scale, the card column width, the row width, the padding rhythm.
T.device(lit)The town's device — the bell over a lozengy tower — as inline SVG. lit is how much dawn is on the bronze.
T.lozenge(fill)The small diamond used as a bullet, a tick and a focus pip.
T.trimDiagram() / T.swingDiagram() / T.dawnDiagram()The three drawn rules of the how-to card.
T.band(m, id)The lozengy rule that divides a card.
T.card(m, opts)A card shell: the scrim, the centred column, the frame, the entrance move.
T.row(m, opts)One selectable line of a card, with its lit state and its pointer target.
T.para(m, id, text, style)A wrapping paragraph.
T.legend(m, text, id)The small line under a card's rows naming what each device family presses.

Two rules it exists to keep

Nothing is a pixel chosen for one screen. The type scale reads off min(width, height  0.75), so a tall frame scales type by its width and a wide one by its height; the card is a single centred column at min(0.86 · width, 0.6 · height). The same card reads on a 3:4 phone held upright and on a 16:9 television.

A wrapping label carries its width on the box around it. T.para is that box. A label given both wrap and a width collapses to one glyph per line.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

theme — the look of every screen in First Light: Betocsin. One palette, one type scale, one set of drawn devices, and a metrics table computed from the LIVE `ui.screenSize()` so nothing in the game is placed at a pixel chosen for one frame. Portrait is the shape the game is composed at (1080x1440), and every rule here still holds on a wide screen: the type scale reads off `min(width, height * 0.75)`, cards are a single centred column, and the HUD hugs the edges rather than spanning them. local T = require("game.screens.theme") local m = T.metrics() local tree = T.card(m, { ... }) Owned by the presentation slice.

metrics( ) → Metrics

The live layout metrics: screen size, the type scale, and the card column width, all computed from `ui.screenSize()`.

examples

local m = T.metrics(); print(m.w, m.h, m.cardW)

device(lit: number) → string

The town's device: the bell over a lozengy tower, drawn as inline SVG.

argtypedescription
litnumber0..1 — how much dawn is on the bronze. 0 is the fallen bell in the dark, 1 is the tocsin catching first light.

examples

{ type = "svg", props = { svg = T.device(0.2) }, style = { width = 260, height = 320 } }

lozenge(fill: string) → string

A small lozenge glyph — the bullet, the tick, the focus marker.

argtypedescription
fillstringThe tincture to fill it with.

examples

{ type = "svg", props = { svg = T.lozenge(T.color.or_) }, style = { width = 18, height = 26 } }

trimDiagram( ) → string

The trim diagram: a course seated off centre, the overlap that survives, the overhang that falls away.

examples

{ type = "svg", props = { svg = T.trimDiagram() }, style = { width = "100%", height = 200 } }

swingDiagram( ) → string

The swing diagram: the course on the crane, travelling along one edge of the lozenge.

examples

{ type = "svg", props = { svg = T.swingDiagram() } }

dawnDiagram( ) → string

The dawn diagram: the sky is the clock, and the sun is the deadline.

examples

{ type = "svg", props = { svg = T.dawnDiagram() } }

band(m: Metrics, id: string) → any

The lozengy band that rules a card off from what is above or below it.

argtypedescription
mMetricsThe metrics table.
idstringThe widget id.

examples

T.band(m, "title_band")

card(m: Metrics, opts: { id: string, children: { any }, animate: boolean?, accent: string? }) → any

A card shell: the scrim, the centred column, the frame, and the entrance move.

argtypedescription
mMetricsThe metrics table.
opts{ id: string, children: { any }, animate: boolean?, accent: string? }{ id, children, animate, accent }

examples

T.card(m, { id = "title", children = { ... }, animate = true })

row(m: Metrics, opts: { id: string, label: string, note: string?, focused: boolean, callback: string }) → any

One selectable row of a card: the lit state a controller walks onto, the hover a mouse points at, and the tap target a finger reaches.

argtypedescription
mMetricsThe metrics table.
opts{ id: string, label: string, note: string?, focused: boolean, callback: string }{ id, label, note, focused, callback }

examples

T.row(m, { id = "start", label = "Take the watch", focused = true, callback = "row:start" })

legend(m: Metrics, text: string, id: string) → any

The legend under a card's rows: what each device family presses here.

argtypedescription
mMetricsThe metrics table.
textstringThe legend line.
idstringThe widget id.

examples

T.legend(m, "Arrows / Stick  ·  Enter / A  ·  tap a line", "title_legend")

para(m: Metrics, id: string, text: string, style: { [string]: any }) → any

A paragraph: a wrapping label inside a container that carries the width. A label given BOTH `wrap` and a width collapses to one glyph per line, so the width always lives on the box around it.

argtypedescription
mMetricsThe metrics table.
idstringThe widget id.
textstringThe text.
style{ [string]: any }Style keys merged onto the label.

examples

T.para(m, "sub", "Raise the bell before the sun does.", { fontSize = m.fs.subtitle })
