What it does

timeline — CHAFF's cutscene

The film, as a cutscene definition: fourteen shots, a lens each, and nothing else.

Every shot's pos is Eye and every shot's look is EyeAim. That is the structural guarantee of the whole film — the cutscene names no other anchor, so it cannot put the camera anywhere but on the diver's head, and there is no shot from outside the character because there is nowhere else to stand.

Durations, fields of view and the order of the shots come from Film.SHOTS; nothing here restates a number. letterbox is 0 (a film, not a game cutscene), skippable is false, and renderLayers drops ui, EditorUI and debug so no editor chrome reaches a recorded frame.

fadeOut is 0 deliberately. The clock is held at 93.9 s rather than allowed to run out and hand the camera back to FallbackCamera, so a closing fade would leave the held frame most of the way to black. The film opens from black and ends on the picture.

Two things a shot here cannot say — camera roll, and a pose resolved against the head as it stands this frame rather than last — are composed back on by demo.chaff.slice_look. The comment block at the top of init.luau says how and why.

Played by FilmDirector, which seeks it once per rendered frame. Watch it from the top with:

entity.find("FilmDirector").component.get("FilmDirector"):playFromTop()

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

CHAFF — the cutscene definition. This is the film. THE ONE RULE OF THIS FILM: the camera IS the diver's eyes, for the whole runtime. Every shot's `pos` is the entity `Eye` and every shot's `look` is `EyeAim`, its child ten metres ahead. There is no shot from outside the character, and no shot may add one. That is a structural guarantee rather than a discipline: the cutscene names no other anchor, so it cannot put the camera anywhere but on the head. What that means for a cut: this file owns the LENS and the shot boundaries, and the Eye rig owns where the head is and where it faces. A cut is the frame on which `demo.chaff.slice_look` teleports `Eye` to the next shot's station. Nothing is interpolated between shots, because each `pos` is a single entity anchor rather than a polyline.
