What it does

ashbloom.garden.meshes

The five plant meshes Ashbloom's garden is instanced from — a pinnate fern frond, a seven-blade terrace tuft, a moss cushion, a hanging wall vine and a six-petal bloom. Each is built at unit size with its root at y = 0, and each carries the one convention the plant shaders depend on: the RED vertex channel is the along-the-plant coordinate, 0 where it is anchored and 1 at the tip, which is both the wind's per-vertex freedom and the shading gradient from the shaded base to the translucent edge. The meshes are single-winding and the materials draw them with cull = "none", because a leaf is a surface rather than a solid.

quad(b: Builder, a: number, c: number, d: number, e: number) → void

One quad. The materials draw with `cull = "none"` because a leaf is a surface and not a solid, and the surface shaders flip the normal on a back face, so a single winding reads correctly from either side at half the triangles.

finish(b: Builder) → Geo

Smooth normals from accumulated face normals. A leaf is a sheet, so both windings of a triangle cancel unless one side is dropped from the sum — the accumulation below only takes the first of each mirrored pair.

fern( ) → Geo

Species A — the fern frond. A rachis arcing up and forward, with paired leaflets that grow then taper. This is the plant shot 15 puts a bloom behind, so the leaflets are wide enough to read as a translucent sheet at 10 cm.

cushion( ) → Geo

The moss cushion. A low dome that spreads over the wet stone. It is what turns the wide shots from stone-with-plants-on-it into a green bowl, and it is the cheapest thing on screen — eight triangles and no silhouette to keep.

tuft( ) → Geo

Species B — the terrace tuft. Five tapered blades from one root, each bending its own way. The commonest thing on screen in shots 14, 16 and 25, so it is the cheapest.

vine( ) → Geo

Species C — the wall vine. A strand that hangs and curls off a retaining wall, with paired leaves. Built pointing along -Y so the population's tilt lays it against a vertical face.

bloom( ) → Geo

The bloom. Six petals radiating from a small boss, lifted a little at the tips so a closed bud (which the transform squeezes narrow and tall) reads as a bud and an open one (squeezed wide and flat) reads as a flower.
