❒asset
# chitin Wet carapace for FURROW's animal. A near-black albedo under a tight clearcoat, an anisotropic stretch running around each plate, and a thin-film slick whose hue swings with the view angle — the whole surface reads off its specular, which is what lets one dark shape stand against gypsum at noon. The plate relief is procedural: longitudinal flutes around the circumference, a bevelled lip where a plate laps the one behind it, and a fine pebbling. It declares no textures, so it spends none of a material's nine sampled-texture slots. Per-instance lane 0 carries each segment's own numbers — along-body position, wetness, sand film, and a phase — so one material dresses the whole body.
