What it does

theme

The printed look of HELSINKI LIFE, in one place.

local T = require("game.screens.theme")
local m = T.metrics()

metrics()

Reads ui.screenSize() every time it is called and returns the numbers every builder lays out from, for THAT screen. Nothing downstream holds a pixel chosen for one frame.

KeyWhat it is
w, h, aspect, portraitthe live screen
sone scale for type and spacing, tied to the SHORT edge, clamped 0.52..1.5
pad, gappage and stack spacing
tapthe smallest a finger gets: at least 46 points
cardW, cardMaxHthe modal card, a share of the screen capped at a readable measure
colWthe HUD player column, a column at every aspect
tthe type scale: mega title head sub body small tiny num

The look

Cream paper, ink type, a green header band, a hairline double rule, and a halftone dot screen over the band: a 1950s HKL enamel sign. Display type is condensed, set in capitals with wide letter spacing, the way a tram destination board is.

Cthe palette: paper, ink, HKL green, copper, sea, sun, brick, plum, rose
Fthe families: anton display, archivoblack heavy, arimo body, jetbrainsmono numbers

All four families are bundled, so the web build draws the same faces as the desktop one.

Style builders

scrim card band display body rowStyle primaryStyle chipStyle return style tables; text rule spacer return nodes.

enter(index, rise), enterCard(rise, scale) and pulse() return animation tables, and nil while the clock is held (animating() is the test). An entrance holds its first keyframe when time is not advancing, so a card built with one under a held clock would be invisible; skipping the animation there shows the settled pose instead.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

theme - the printed look of HELSINKI LIFE, in one place. local T = require("game.screens.theme") local m = T.metrics() -- everything proportional to the LIVE screen The game is published to a phone held either way, to a laptop and to a television, so nothing here is a pixel chosen for one frame. `metrics()` reads `ui.screenSize()` every time it is called and returns the scale, the paddings and the card widths for THAT screen; every builder in `game.screens.cards` and `game.screens.hud` takes that table and lays out from it. The look is a 1950s HKL enamel sign: cream paper, ink type, a green header band, a hairline double rule, and a halftone dot screen over the band. Display type is condensed and set in capitals with wide letter spacing, the way a tram destination board is.

metrics( ) →

Read the live screen and return the scale, spacing and widths every builder lays out from.

scrim(m: ?) →

The dimmed backdrop a modal card sits on.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.

card(m: ?, opts: ?) →

The cream card body: paper, a double rule, and a lifted shadow.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.
opts?Optional { width, maxHeight }.

band(m: ?, tone: ?) →

The green header band of a card, with its halftone screen.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.
tone?A palette colour for the band; the HKL green when omitted.

display(size: ?, color: ?, extra: ?) →

Poster capitals: the display face, uppercase, letter-spaced.

argtypedescription
size?Font size in points.
color?Text colour.
extra?Optional style keys merged over the result.

body(size: ?, color: ?, extra: ?) →

Body copy: the sans face at a readable measure.

argtypedescription
size?Font size in points.
color?Text colour.
extra?Optional style keys merged over the result.

rowStyle(m: ?, opts: ?) →

A tappable row / button surface, with its focused and hovered states.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.
opts?{ focused, tone, text, flat, height }.

primaryStyle(m: ?, opts: ?) →

The big primary button: green enamel, ink rule, capitals.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.
opts?{ focused, tone, disabled }.

chipStyle(m: ?, tone: ?, color: ?) →

A small pill: a district name, a career, a count.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.
tone?Background colour.
color?Text colour.

text(text: ?, style: ?, wrap: ?) →

A label node, the shortest spelling of the most common leaf.

argtypedescription
text?The text.
style?Its style table.
wrap?True to wrap to the container width.

rule(m: ?) →

A dotted tram-track rule, the divider between a card's sections.

argtypedescription
m?A metrics table.

spacer( ) →

A flexible gap that pushes what follows to the far end of its container.

animating( ) →

Whether the clock these screens animate against is running.

enter(index: ?, rise: ?) →

The cascade an entrance uses: fade up, staggered by index. Nil while the clock is held, so a held frame shows the settled pose instead of the first keyframe.

argtypedescription
index?0-based position in the cascade.
rise? How far up it travels, in points.

enterCard(rise: ?, scale: ?) →

A card's own arrival: a slight rise and settle. Nil while the clock is held.

argtypedescription
rise? How far up it travels, in points.
scale?The scale it grows from.

pulse( ) →

A slow breathing pulse for the thing the player is meant to press. Nil while the clock is held.
