Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

director.toolbox/shared.module/init.luau Cross-tool helpers for the demo-sequencer toolbox: the result envelope every tool here returns, and the channel the tools reach the running demo through. WHY A FILE AND NOT A FUNCTION CALL. The sequencer runs in the scene entrypoint's scope. A module required from a tool is a SECOND copy of that module with its own upvalues, and the per-asset `runtime` table is per-scope as well — measured: the entrypoint logs `total 365s` while the same module required from a tool reports `total 0`. So there is no in-memory handle onto the running clock from here. The VFS is one filesystem every scope reads, so that is the channel: a tool writes a command, `Director.tick` drains it in the scope that owns the clock, and publishes the clock back the same way.

ok(value: any?, formatted: string?) → ZmToolResult

Build a success result.

fail(message: string, exitCode: number?) → ZmToolResult

Build a failure result. `exitCode` defaults to 1.

status( ) → void

The sequencer's last published state, or nil plus the reason there is none. The director republishes several times a second while it ticks, so an absent or stale file means the demo is not running rather than that the read failed.

send(cmd: any) → void

Hand the running sequencer a command. It is applied on its next tick, in the scope that owns the clock.

clock(t: number) → string

Format a clock reading as m:ss.s.

resolvePart(st: any, which: (string | number) → void

Resolve a part selector to its 1-based index. Accepts the index itself, the part's exact name, or a unique case-insensitive prefix of it. Returns nil plus a message naming the candidates when the selector is ambiguous or matches nothing.

which(string | number

where(st: any) → string

A one-line reading of where the clock is, shared by every tool that moves it.
