What it does

lines

Everything the Kid says — the child whose playroom this is and whose toys these are, narrating their own game.

One speaker, sixteen lines, grouped by cue: title, wind1 / wind2 / wind3, launch, topple, wreck, and end0 … end3 for the star rating the session lands on. Where a cue has several lines, SoundDirector picks one and avoids the one it played last.

Each line carries its text and a hold — the seconds the caption stays up when there is no clip to time it against. When there IS a clip, the caption runs for the delivery's own length, which game/audio/voicecache.module records.

A line is spoken AND written. game/audio/voicebake.luau buys the delivery from audio_gen.speech exactly once and caches it as game/audio/voice/<id>.soundClip; SoundDirector puts the text on screen at the same moment through game.audio.caption. A muted player, a noisy room and a generation that failed all leave the line intact.

Adding a line: write it here, then

execute { file = "/zero/source/game/audio/voicebake.luau", args = { ids = { "your_id" } } }

Speech is credit-metered. The bake skips every line that already has a clip, so running it again costs nothing.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

strict

forCue(cue: string) → void

Every line offered at a cue.

cuestring

pick(cue: string, want: number?, used: { [string]: boolean }?) → Line

The line for a cue that best fits a moment of size `want` (0..1). `used` is the set of line ids already spoken this session: an unused line always wins, and when every line in the pool has been used the nearest one is returned anyway — a short session runs out of alternatives, never out of things to say.

endCue(stars: number) → string

The cue for a session that ended on `stars` stars.

argtypedescription
starsnumber

windCue(plane: number) → string

The cue for the plane about to go on the launcher.

argtypedescription
planenumber

toppleWeight(p: any) → number

How big a moment a `towerToppled` payload is. A chain of three is the top of the scale; a called shot that lands is worth the same shout as a chain, because the player said it would.

argtypedescription
pany

wreckWeight(reason: string, roundScore: number, partsLost: number) → number

How big a moment a `wreck` is, given the reason the round ended and what the plane earned and lost while it lasted.

argtypedescription
reasonstring
roundScorenumber
partsLostnumber

launchWeight(p: any, maxSpeed: number) → number

How big a moment a `launch` is — how hard the key was wound.

argtypedescription
pany
maxSpeednumber

callOut(label: string?) → Line

What the Kid says when a landmark is called from the launcher. Written only — the label is chosen at play time, so no delivery could be bought for it in advance.
