What it does

CommanderCam

The commander's view of the Kessrel Line: a camera behaviour for the PlayerPrototype's CameraRig. It stands high behind the human line and looks north up the canyon, heading fixed, so the Gate is at the bottom of a tall frame, the line fills the lower fifth, the tide pours down from the top, and the Maw and the low sun sit near the horizon — the composition of design/refs/key-art.png.

Fields:

FieldWhat it sets
anchorX, anchorZthe floor point the view is centred on; the Command component pans these

aimAheadhow far north of the anchor the sight line crosses the floor — the pitch

Zoom walks the station along the sight line rather than rotating it, so the pitch — and with it the vertical composition — holds at every distance.

The lens answers to the screen's shape: vertical field of view is what is authored, so a wider screen simply shows more canyon wall, and a screen too narrow to carry a useful width of the line opens the lens instead of cropping it. The numbers live in game.command.config CAM.

Owned by the command slice. The scene's CameraRig names it as Camera.behavior.

CommanderCam — the commander's view of the Kessrel Line. A camera behaviour for the PlayerPrototype's CameraRig: an elevated station behind the human line, pitched down, looking north along +Z up the canyon, so the Gate sits at the bottom of the frame and the tide pours down from the top. The composition is key-art.png — the line low, the tide filling the middle, the Maw and the low sun near the top with a band of sky over them — and the fields below are that composition written down. Panning moves the anchor; zooming walks the station along the sight line. Neither turns the camera: the heading is fixed north, so the canyon never rolls under a player who is reading a battle. The Command component writes `anchorX` / `anchorZ` / `zoom`; everything else is the composition. The lens answers to the SHAPE of the screen. Vertical field of view is held so the vertical composition is the same on every device, and a screen too narrow to show a useful width of the line widens the lens rather than cropping the line — so a phone held upright still sees regiments either side of the one it is centred on, and a television simply sees more canyon.
