Fireflies
A component script.
Interface
What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.
conforms to
zero/source-extract/v2Fireflies — a drifting swarm of self-lit motes over an area. ONE component animates the whole swarm from a single update loop, so a few dozen motes cost almost nothing. (Driving each mote with its own Mover component is ~30x more expensive — per-component update dispatch dominates, so the swarm is deliberately managed here instead.) On awake it spawns `count` small emissive orbs as children of the host, scattered within `radius` in the XZ plane and between `minY`..`maxY` in height. Each mote wanders on its own slow orbit and bobs. The orbs are children, so despawning the host cleans the whole swarm up in one cascade. Generic: drop it on any entity to get ambient motes — fireflies, dust in a light shaft, sparks over a forge, spores in a cave. Fields: count number motes to spawn (default 22) radius number XZ scatter radius around the host (default 40) minY number lowest mote height, host-local (default 0.8) maxY number highest mote height, host-local (default 3.4) material string emissive material identity for the orbs (default "mw_fly") size number base orb scale (default 0.08) speed number global drift-speed multiplier (default 1)
