menu.inputMap

Card navigation for RED DOT RISING.

What it does

menu

Card navigation for RED DOT RISING.

Live only while a card is up — the title, the how-to-play card, the pause card, WIN and MORNING SHIFT. It belongs to the ui group and stands down both the builtin player scheme and the game's own rdr scheme, so nothing walks, looks or fires while a menu is open, and the on-screen touch controls leave the screen with them.

ControlKeyboard / mouseGamepadTouch
navigateArrow keysD-padtap the row
navigateStickW A S DLeft sticktap the row
confirmEnter, SpaceSouth (A / Cross)tap the row
backEscape, BackspaceEast (B / Circle)the BACK row
unpausePStartthe pause pip

Touch is unbound on every control on purpose: a finger drives these cards by tapping the row it wants, which is that row's own onClick. A virtual stick and four buttons floating over a menu would be four controls with nothing to do.

navigate and navigateStick read the same axis so a pad walks a menu with either hand; the ui slice feeds whichever is pushed harder into Focus.axis, so holding both does not walk two rows at once.

menu.inputMap — the controls that drive RED DOT RISING's cards. Live only while a card is up (title, how-to-play, pause, win, morning shift). It belongs to the "ui" group and stands down both the builtin player scheme and the game's own "rdr" scheme, so nothing walks, looks or fires while the player is reading a menu, and the on-screen touch controls leave the screen with them. Touch is deliberately unbound on every control: a finger drives these cards by tapping the row it wants, which is the row's own onClick, so a virtual stick and four buttons floating over a menu would be four controls with nothing to do.

⌬ Metadata
descriptionCard navigation for RED DOT RISING: walk the rows of a menu, confirm, go back and unpause. Live only while a card is up, and it stands the game's own controls down while it is. Suits any world whose menus must answer to a pad and a keyboard as readily as to a pointer; a finger drives the rows by tapping them, so touch is deliberately unbound.
