What it does

fen_surface

The single surface shader Lanternwake is built out of. The village is boxes and prisms, so its detail lives here: a pattern property selects cobble setts, pitch-blacked timber grain, courses of slipped slate, cracked daub with the damp climbing it, ashlar with lichen in the joints, standing water, combed thatch, rusting wrought iron, churned fen mud, or leaded glass. Every pattern is cut from world-space coordinates with the horizontal axis taken from the face normal, so a lane's setts run continuously between meshes and a course of slate does not restart at a roof panel's edge. wet is the dial that makes a night village legible — wet stone is the only thing that holds a lantern — and grime is how far the fen has climbed up whatever it is on.
