What it does

spires

The far skyline of Ashcross: three ranks of rooftops with gothic towers standing out of them, each rank further back, smaller, and further into the fog, so the backmost band has depth of its own before any parallax touches it.

A rank is a run of blocks with hashed heights and pitched roofs, with a tapered tower every so often topped with a spike and a cross-bar. It is evaluated as a height profile per column of pixels, so it costs almost nothing and never repeats. The nearest rank carries pinpricks of far-off lamplight.

Alpha-blended over skyfog. Worn by art.backdrops.band_far at z = -34, parallax 0.14.
