What it does

fogsea

The sea of fog Betocsin lies under, as one horizontal sheet.

Two scrolling fbm layers billow the sheet; the grazing angle at the horizon closes it into an unbroken bank while the near sheet is torn open by erosion; and zero_scene_depth_fade softens it wherever the tower, a rooftop or a mast stands through the surface, so nothing meets the fog on a cut line. Several entities carrying this shader at different heights, noise_scales and drifts are what gives the bank its depth.

fog_color, lit_color, sun_dir and coverage are pushed every frame by game.world.Dawn off the game.world.firstlight ramp, so the sea reads the hour: indigo and closed at deep night, rose across the crests at the blush, ember-lit and draining as first light crests the estuary.
