What it does

hill

The pure rules behind the Hill zone (king of the hill), with no engine calls, so they can be unit tested. Hill.component calls them every frame. A game or a test can use them directly.

  • LOOKS: the five looks in gallery order, each { id, label, description } (glowRing, flagPlatform, scifiPad, runeCircle, outline). lookId(id) returns the canonical id, or nil. It ignores case and accepts a label, so "Sci-Fi Pad" gives "scifiPad".
  • parseSpots(str) reads "x,z; x,y,z; EntityName" into { {x, z, y?, name?} }. These are the extra spots: spot 1 is always the hill's own place.
  • inside(px,py,pz, cx,cy,cz, radius, height) tests the capture cylinder: within radius across the floor, from 0.5 below the centre up to height above it.
  • spotIndex(info, moveEvery, nSpots) gives the 1-based spot from match:hillInfo(). While playing it is floor(elapsed / moveEvery) % nSpots + 1; otherwise it is 1. untilMove(...) gives the seconds to the next move, or math.huge.
  • stateOf(info, localInsideIds) returns "idle" | "held" | "contested" and the holder (0 for none). It uses the match while a kingOfTheHill round is playing, and the local ids otherwise.
  • COLORS, stateColor(state, mine, t, idle?) (contested pulses red to orange), flash(left, warnSeconds, t) (the blink before a move, getting faster) and parseColor("#rrggbb").

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

strict

lookId(id: string?) → string

`id` when it names one of the looks (any letter case, or its label), else nil.

argtypedescription
idstring?

trim(s: string) → string

argtypedescription
sstring

parseSpots(str: string?) → void

"x,z; x,z" offsets from the hill's own place (or "x,y,z"), or entity names, separated by `;` (or new lines). Spot 1 is always the hill's own place and is not part of this list: these are spots 2, 3, ...

argtypedescription
strstring?

inside(px: number, py: number, pz: number, cx: number, cy: number, cz: number, radius: number, height: number) → boolean

Whether a point stands in the capture cylinder: within `radius` of the centre across the floor, and from half a metre below the centre to `height` above it.

pznumber
cxnumber
cynumber
cznumber
radiusnumber
heightnumber

playing(info: any) → boolean

argtypedescription
infoany

spotIndex(info: any, moveEvery: number, nSpots: number) → number

Which spot (1-based) the hill stands on. During a round it moves every `moveEvery` seconds of the round's clock, the same on every machine; outside a round, and when it never moves, it stands on spot 1.

argtypedescription
infoany
moveEverynumber
nSpotsnumber

untilMove(info: any, moveEvery: number, nSpots: number) → number

Seconds until the hill next moves, or math.huge when it will not.

argtypedescription
infoany
moveEverynumber
nSpotsnumber

stateOf(info: any, localInsideIds: { number }?) → void

The state the hill shows: "idle", "held" or "contested", and who holds it alone (0 for nobody). While a kingOfTheHill round is played the match's `hillInfo()` is the truth; otherwise the ids this machine sees inside.

argtypedescription
infoany
localInsideIds{ number }?

parseColor(hex: string?) → void

"#rrggbb" (or "rrggbb", "#rgb") as linear 0..1 RGB, nil when it is not one.

argtypedescription
hexstring?

c(i: number) → number

argtypedescription
inumber

stateColor(state: string, mine: boolean, t: number, idle: { number }?) → void

The colour and brightness of a state at time `t` (seconds): contested pulses between red (at t = 0) and orange twice a second.

argtypedescription
statestring
mineboolean
tnumber
idle{ number }?

flash(left: number, warnSeconds: number, t: number) → number

How strongly the warning flash shows (0 or 1) with `left` seconds to the next move: it blinks faster as the move comes closer.

warnSecondsnumber
