What it does

geom

The geometry builders the Reaction slice is made of — lathes, height-field discs, and a growable hexagonal prism

Every shape here is built from numbers rather than imported, because every one of them has to be able to CHANGE: the liquid's top cap is a height field carrying a meniscus, a vortex and a drop's ripples at once, and the crystal is a lattice whose prisms extend on camera.

A builder returns a plain { positions, normals, uvs, indices } table — what renderer.mesh.create takes. prism writes one hexagonal prism with a pointed termination whose normals depend only on its axis and ring angle, never on its length, which is what lets a whole lattice grow by rewriting positions alone.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

demo/meshes/reaction/geom.module — the geometry the Reaction slice is made of. Every shape here is built from numbers rather than imported, because every one of them has to be able to CHANGE: the liquid's top cap is a height field that carries a meniscus, a vortex and a drop's ripples at once, and the crystal is a lattice whose prisms extend on camera. A builder returns a plain `{ positions, normals, uvs, indices }` table — exactly what `renderer.mesh.create` takes. A ring-based builder also returns the layout it used, so a caller can rewrite the positions of one ring per frame without rebuilding the topology.

concat(parts: { Geometry }) → Geometry

Merge geometries into one, offsetting each one's indices.

lathe(profile: { { number } }, seg: number, inward: boolean?) → Geometry

A surface of revolution about the Y axis. `profile` is a list of `{ y, r }` read bottom to top. `seg` is how many segments go round. The normal at a ring comes from the profile's own tangent, so a curved shoulder shades as a curve rather than as facets. `inward = true` turns the surface inside out — the inner wall of a vessel.

disc(radius: number, rings: number, seg: number, y: number, up: boolean?) → Geometry

A flat radial grid in the XZ plane — `rings + 1` rings from the centre out to `radius`, `seg` segments round. This is the mesh a liquid surface is: a height field with enough rings near the wall to carry a meniscus and enough near the middle to carry a vortex. `up = false` faces it down (a floor cap).

sphere(radius: number, seg: number, rings: number) → Geometry

A UV sphere centred on the origin.

capsuleX(radius: number, length: number, seg: number) → Geometry

A capsule lying along X — the shape of a PTFE stir bar.

plate(radius: number, sides: number, twist: number?) → Geometry

A regular polygon plate in the XY plane facing +Z, `sides` a side count. Six sides is a crystal facet; four is a card.

quad(w: number, h: number) → Geometry

A flat quad in the XY plane facing +Z, uv 0..1 across it.

prismFrame(axis: { number }, up: { number }) → void

The axis and the six ring directions a prism was built with, flattened so the growth step never recomputes them.
