Read a soft body's energy ledger, every energy in joules: the kinetic and elastic energy it holds now, and since the mark the work gravity did on it, the work plastic flow absorbed, the energy tears and cuts took out (fracture), the two together (absorbed), what pieces split off carried away (departed) and what it lost otherwise (dissipated: damping, friction, contacts, less the work whatever holds or pushes it did on it). They balance: atMark.kinetic + atMark.elastic + gravity = kinetic + elastic + absorbed + departed + dissipated. regions gives each of the component's regions its elastic energy and what it absorbed, and peakAcceleration the largest acceleration of the body's centre of mass over one step since the mark. mark = true starts the ledger; a body never marked reads only its kinetic and elastic energy, and costs nothing per step.
