What it does
run.foley
The noises the run itself makes: wet timber and moving water, synthesised
sample by sample in Luau and baked to .soundClip assets under
/source/run/audio/.
| clip | what it is |
|---|---|
run_gate_open | a lashed hurdle swinging off a rotted post — the stick-slip groan of wet timber, two knocks, and the far end going into the fen |
run_tide_surge | a wrong answer: the water takes twenty-four seconds at once, a swell that rises out of nothing, breaks, and leaves a hiss on the deck |
run_tide_notch | the water crossing a notch — a lap and a low knock under it, small on purpose, because it happens ten times |
local Foley = require("run.foley")
Foley.bake() -- create anything missing; leaves what is there alone
Foley.bake(true) -- re-bake all three
Foley.verify() -- what audio.info reads off the bytes on disk
Run bake from a one-off script rather than from a component: a component's
asset.create files into the copy-on-write runtime store instead of
/source, and these are meant to be content the world carries.
The synthesis is deterministic — its own linear-congruential noise source,
never math.random — so the same three clips come out of any machine.
