What it does

curves

Pure maths for the five difficulty curves (steady, steep, stepped, breather, flat). at(name, wave, strength) turns a wave number into count, pace, speed, health and damage multipliers plus a rest flag for breather waves; series gives a whole curve for graphs and scaleCount rounds a scaled enemy count up. The waves module and the Spawner call it to scale every wave and the trickle; games read it through SK.curve and SK.curveSeries.

steady(w: number, k: number) → void

Steady: the same small step every wave.

knumber

steep(w: number, k: number) → void

Steep: grows by a fixed percentage each wave, so it runs away fast.

wnumber

stepped(w: number, k: number) → void

Stepped: flat plateaus three waves long, then a big jump.

breather(w: number, k: number) → void

Breather: climbs a little faster than steady, but every fourth wave is a rest wave with half the enemies at a gentle pace.

flat(_w: number, _k: number) → void

Flat: every wave exactly as written. For tuning and tests.

Whether a curve name exists.

argtypedescription
namestring

at(name: string, wave: number, strength: number?) → Scale

The multipliers a curve gives one wave.

argtypedescription
namestringA curve id: steady, steep, stepped, breather or flat.
wavenumberThe wave number, counting from 1.
strengthnumber?How hard the curve bites (1 = as designed, 0 = flat, 2 = twice as steep).

Curves.at("steep", 5).count --> about 3.0

series(name: string, waves: number, strength: number?) → void

A whole curve as a list, for graphs: one Scale per wave.

scaleCount(base: number, s: Scale) → number

Apply a wave's scale to a base count (rounded up, never below 1 while base is above 0).
