What it does

water_body

The court's water seen as a body rather than as a surface: a dark, nearly smooth dielectric slab whose top lies a hand's breadth under the refracting film. Being opaque it is in the gbuffer, so the screen-space reflection pass and the reflection environment both reach it and the colonnade stands doubled in it — and being under the film, that doubled colonnade is exactly what the film then bends.

It is also what gives the film something to measure: the film reads how far it stands in front of whatever the opaque pass drew, so the slab sets the depth in open water and the marble sets it wherever stone rises through the surface, which is where the shoreline dissolves.

Worn by WaterCourtBody and WaterBasinBody, built by noon.water.
