What it does

traversal

Being a body in Amagiri: walking the flooded valley, wading when the water is over your feet, the camera that watches you do it, and the prompt that tells you when someone is close enough to talk to.

What it does

Walk / runGame.tuning.walkSpeed on foot, runSpeed while sprint is held.
WadeFeet below Game.WATER_LEVEL cut the walk to Game.tuning.wadeFactor of itself — the flood is knee-deep and it shows in how fast you cross it.
CameraThe player's rig runs traversal.WanderCam: a damped orbit-follow with a spring arm that pulls in past geometry and an aim point that leads where you are going.
PromptScreen amagiri_prompt raises the label of the nearest thing in Game.interactables() you are standing inside the radius of, and clears when you walk out.
InteractThe interact control — E, the pad's west button, the on-screen button — emits one interact naming that thing, and opens its conversation when one is registered.
Two-shotcamera:focus holds the camera on a fixed pose and eases its lens; camera:release gives it back.

While Game.inputLocked() is set the player does not move and the prompt steps off the screen, so a conversation owns both.

What it authors onto

The scene's PlayerPrototype — its body and its CameraRig. Nothing here spawns a player, a camera or an input rig of its own. In edit the prototype is the live player and the settings land on it directly; in play the prototype is PrototypeOnly and the same settings are put on the clone the engine minted for this user, every frame, because a clone carries what the scene authored rather than what a slice wrote onto the prototype afterwards.

Tuning it

Everything numeric that another slice might want to read lives in Game.tuning: walkSpeed, runSpeed, wadeFactor, interactRadius. The camera's framing is fields on WanderCam — the three rings, the damping, the lead distance and the focus ease — and each one re-poses the rig the moment it changes, so a shot can be dialled in and seen in edit mode.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

Amagiri: Hollow Bell — the `traversal` slice. Everything about being a body in the valley: * WALK / RUN / WADE. The scene's PlayerPrototype already carries the engine's kinematic character controller. This slice tunes it to the valley's numbers and, every frame, scales its speed by where the player's feet are: below Game.WATER_LEVEL they are in the flood and the walk drops to Game.tuning.wadeFactor of itself. While Game.inputLocked() is set — a conversation is on screen — it drops to nothing. * THE CAMERA. The prototype's CameraRig is repointed at `traversal.WanderCam`: a damped orbit-follow with a collision-aware spring arm and a lead on movement, plus a focus pose the conversation layer borrows for its two-shot. * THE PROMPT. Screen `Game.UI.PROMPT_SCREEN` raises the label of the nearest enabled interactable in range and clears when the player walks out of it. * THE INTERACT KEY. One press emits exactly one `interact` naming that interactable, and opens its conversation when one is registered. It authors onto the prototype the scene already carries. It never spawns a second player, camera or input rig: the world is always multiplayer, and a parallel control stack passes single-peer testing and breaks the moment anybody else joins.

Where this slice keeps what it knows Editing this file hot-reloads it in place: the module table survives, but every local in it is rebuilt from its initialiser, and `build` is NOT run again. A handler installed by the previous chunk therefore keeps firing while the locals it reads and writes are a copy nothing ticks any more — which looks exactly like an event that arrived and did nothing. So nothing this slice has to remember between frames is a local. It all lives on one table hung off `Game`, which every chunk reaches the same way, and `gen` is stamped onto each subscription so one that outlives its teardown stands itself down.

findPrototype( ) → void

Finding the player The PlayerPrototype entity the scene authored, and the component naming its body and camera. It is in the world in edit, where it IS the player; in play it is PrototypeOnly and the engine's clone stands in its place.

localBody( ) → any

The body this client drives: the local user's avatar in play, the prototype's own body in edit.

findRig( ) → any

This client's camera rig. The prototype is PrototypeOnly and every other peer's rig is OwnerOnly, which leaves exactly one camera-carrying `CameraRig` visible from here.

localRig( ) → any

Put this slice's behaviour on the rig the local user looks through, and hand the rig back once the component is actually there. A clone minted from the scene source carries whatever the scene authored, so the ask has to reach the live rig and not only the prototype it came from.

promptTree(label: string?) → any

The prompt screen

Proximity The nearest enabled interactable whose radius the body stands inside, measured on the ground plane: a spirit standing in the flooded street and a player on the paving above her are the same conversation.

fireInteract( ) → void

The interact key One press, one `interact`. It always names what was in range, so `rite` hears the bell whether or not anything registered a conversation for it; a registered conversation is opened on top of that.

applyFocus( ) → void

The camera focus relay

Movement tuning Walk, run and wade all come out of one number the character controller reads every frame, so this is the whole of it: the authored walk speed, cut to the wading fraction while the feet are under the water, and zero while a conversation holds the input. The clone a joining user is minted from carries what the SCENE authored, not what this slice wrote onto the prototype afterwards, so the gait is restated here on the body that is actually being driven.

# game.Game The shared interface of **Amagiri: Hollow Bell**. Every part of the game talks through this module and nothing else. ```lua local Game = require("game.Game") ``` It holds: - **the anchors** — `Game.ANCHORS`, `Game.CLIFF_PATH`, `Game.WATER_LEVEL`, `Game.FLOOD_FLOOR`: one set of world coordinates the valley builds to and the cast stands on. - **the vocabularies** — `Game.EMOTION`, `Game.RESONANCE`, `Game.ENDING`, `Game.CHARACTERS`. - **the run state** — resonances held, how far the Fading has advanced, per-character flags, and the ending, mutated through `grantResonance`, `setFading`, `endRun`, `resetRun`. - **an event bus** — `Game.on(event, fn)` returning an unsubscribe, and `Game.emit(event, payload)`. - **three registries** — interactables (what the player can walk up to), dialogue scripts, and character portraits. - **the mounting** — `Game.boot()`, `Game.rebuild(slice)`, `Game.tick(dt, mode)`, called by the scene's entrypoint. It owns no entities, no UI and no behaviour. It is the contract.

# WanderCam The Wanderer's third-person camera: a damped orbit around the body it follows, with a spring arm, a lead on movement, and a focus pose a conversation can borrow. Put it on a camera rig's `Camera.behavior`. It never places a camera of its own — it poses the entity it is on. ## Framing Three rings around the follow target, each with a `height` above the target's origin and a `radius` out from its axis. `verticalAxis` slides the camera along the spline through them (0 at `ringBottom`, 1 at `ringTop`) and `horizontalAxis` orbits, so a low wide look-up and a high tight look-down are geometry you can see rather than angle limits you cannot. `radiusScale` zooms between `minRadiusScale` and `maxRadiusScale`. Writing any of these re-poses the rig immediately with the damping bypassed, so edit mode shows the shot play mode will produce. ## Lead The aim point slides ahead of the body along its own travel: up to `leadDistance` at `leadSpeed`, eased over `leadTau` seconds. Walking opens the view in the direction being walked; standing still settles it back onto the body. The travel is differenced off the target's position rather than read from a movement component, so this follows anything that moves. ## Focus ```lua cam.focus = { active = true, position = { x = 0, y = 2, z = -3 }, lookAt = { x = 0, y = 1.5, z = 0 }, fov = 36 } cam.focus = {} -- give the camera back ``` While `focus.active` is set the rig eases to that pose and that aim over `focusTau` seconds instead of orbiting, and the `Camera`'s field of view eases to `focus.fov`. Look input is dropped rather than accumulated while the focus holds, so releasing does not swing the view by everything the mouse did in the meantime. Clearing it eases back to the orbit and to `baseFov`. ## Controls `inputMap` names the scheme this camera answers to — `look` orbits, `zoom` scales the rings. Point it at a world's own map to rebind either without touching this component.
