What it does

Core

The one table every slice of WICK shares: the constants that define the shaft, the sea and the camera framing, the blackboard the rules write and everyone reads, an event bus, the phase machine's single writer, and the Keeper's script. local Core = require("game.Core"). See /zero/source/design/spec.md.

Exports

  • Core.SHAFT, Core.SEA, Core.CAMERA, Core.STAGING_TIMEOUT — the place.
  • Core.state — phase, player {x, y, vx, vy, wall, facing, gripping, grip, alive}, height, best, seaHeight, seaRate, surged, lampLit, elapsed, kicks, run.
  • Core.events.on(name, fn) -> unsubscribe, Core.events.emit(name, ...), Core.events.count(name).
  • Core.setPhase(p) — called by game.Climb only.
  • Core.LINES, Core.say(id) — the Keeper's lines; say emits "say" and "caption".
  • Core.heightClimbed(), Core.seaGap(), Core.resetRun(), Core.clamp, Core.lerp.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

strict

on(name: string, fn: Handler) → void

Subscribe. Returns the unsubscribe function; hold it and call it in onDestroy.

argtypedescription
namestring
fnHandler

emit(name: string, ...: any) → void

Emit. A handler that raises is reported and the rest still run.

argtypedescription
namestring
...any

count(name: string) → number

How many are listening; a slice proving itself reads this.

argtypedescription
namestring

setPhase(p: Phase) → void

Phase — written by game.Climb only

argtypedescription
pPhase

say(id: string) → void

Say a line: one event the sound slice plays and the screens slice prints.

idstring

clamp(v: number, lo: number, hi: number) → number

Helpers every slice reaches for

vnumber
lonumber

lerp(a: number, b: number, t: number) → number

argtypedescription
anumber
bnumber
tnumber

heightClimbed( ) → number

How high up the tower Wick is, as the HUD reports it. This is the same scale every other number the player reads is quoted in: the milestones at 25 / 50 / 75 / 100, the surge at SEA.surgeAt, and the lamp room at SHAFT.lampHeight, so the readout reaches the lamp's own figure at the top.

seaGap( ) → number

Metres between the cat and the water.

resetRun( ) → void

Reset the blackboard for a fresh climb. Called by game.Climb.
