schema

The saved record's layout, versions and upgrades.

What it does

schema

The saved record's layout, versions and upgrades.

Every save carries the kit's layout number (kit) and the game's layout number (version). When a game ships a new layout it raises version and supplies a migration for each older number; upgrade runs them step by step when an old save loads and fills in any new defaults. A save from a newer build is read but never overwritten, and a failed upgrade leaves the record as it was with info.failed set.

Also provides fresh (a new empty record), sanitize (fix types, keep unknown keys, never raises), checkMigrations, fillDefaults, pretty (stable JSON for display), copy and the list of standard stat names (STAT_NAMES).

Internal: saveKit.save calls it on every load. Games set version, migrations and defaults through Save.setup rather than calling this module.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

saveKit.schema: the saved record's layout, versions and upgrades. Every save carries the kit's own layout number (`kit`) and the game's layout number (`version`). When a game ships a new layout it raises `version` and adds a migration from each older number; an old save is upgraded step by step when it loads. A save from a newer build is read but never overwritten, and an unreadable one is set aside, not lost.

nownumber?

sanitize(rec: any, cfg: any?) → any

Make a record safe to use: right types everywhere, unknown keys kept. Returns a new table; never raises.

checkMigrations(version: number, migrations: any) → void

Check a game's migration table: one function for every layout number from 1 to version-1. Returns ok, problem.

fillDefaults(rec: any, defaults: any) → void

Fill in defaults the game added since the save was written (keys missing from rec.game), without touching keys it has.

upgrade(stored: any, cfg: any) → void

Upgrade a stored record to this game's layout. cfg = { version, migrations, defaults }. Returns record, info with { from, to, steps, newer, failed, recovered, error }. Never raises: a failed step returns the record as it was with info.failed set.

pretty(rec: any) → string
