What it does

theme

The look of every HOLLOWBELL screen, and the numbers it lays out by.

Two things live here:

  • The palette and the type ramp — wet-stone ink, bone, parchment, ember, verdigris, blood and gold, plus the two bundled font families the game sets in (anton for display, ebgaramond for anything read as a sentence). No host-OS font is named, so the browser build draws what the native one draws.
  • metrics() — the proportions of the screen as it is right now. It reads ui.screenSize() on every call and returns w, h, the unit u (which tracks the short edge), the paddings, the card measure, the type sizes and the bottom inset the engine's touch overlay needs. Nothing in the slice writes a pixel position chosen for one shape.
local T = require("presentation.theme")
local m = T.metrics(surfaceClass == "touch")

{ type = "vertical", style = T.panelStyle(m), children = {
    T.menuRow(m, "resume", "Resume", nil, focused, true),
} }

Also here: label / paragraph / capsStyle for type, cardBackdrop and panelStyle for card chrome, menuRow for a focusable choice, and riseIn / emberPulse for motion.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

theme — the look of every HOLLOWBELL screen, and the numbers it lays out by. Two things live here. The PALETTE and the type ramp, so a card and the HUD are recognisably the same game; and `metrics()`, which reads the live `ui.screenSize()` every time it is asked and returns the proportions this frame's screen wants. Nothing in the slice writes a pixel position chosen for one shape: a screen is built from `m.w`, `m.h` and the unit `m.u`. local T = require("presentation.theme") local m = T.metrics() { type = "vertical", style = { padding = m.pad, gap = m.gap } }

metrics(touchSurface: boolean?, at: { width: number, height: number }?) → Metrics

`at` lays the metrics out against a stated size instead of the live screen. Nothing in the game passes it: it is how a shape the run cannot boot into — a wide monitor, a television, a phone held either way — is checked without a viewport of that shape.

cardBackdrop( ) → void

The wash a card sits on: near-black with an ember bloom above the centre, so the crypt behind it reads as a room with a fire in it rather than as a grey dialog.

panelStyle(m: Metrics) → void

The panel a card's content stands in: a lifted slate step, a verdigris hairline, a lit top edge and a soot-black drop.

menuRow(m: Metrics, id: string, text: string, hint: string?, focused: boolean, primary: boolean?) → void

One choice on a card. The same row answers a mouse, a finger and a pad: it carries `onClick`, so a click or a tap fires it, and it draws the focus ring when the pad's focus is on it.

riseIn(delay: number, distance: number?) → void

An entrance that cascades: each panel holds its first frame until its own delay elapses, so a card assembles instead of appearing.
