What it does

SigmaCam

Fixed-angle top-down chase camera for Sigma Boy RPG.

Lives on the scene's PlayerPrototype CameraRig. It resolves its subject through the standard Camera.follow slot, holds a constant downward pitch, and eases toward the subject with a per-second exponential blend.

Fields

FieldMeaning
targetEntity id to follow. Empty falls back to Camera.follow.
pitchDownward tilt in radians (1.05 ≈ 60°).
yawCompass rotation in radians. 0 looks along -Z.
distanceOrbit radius in metres.
focusHeightHeight added to the subject origin before framing.
smoothingPer-second exponential follow blend. 0 sticks instantly.
useFocusFrame focusX/focusY/focusZ instead of the subject.
focusX / focusY / focusZThe override focus point.

Methods

  • snap() — drop the smoothing history so the next tick seats the camera exactly at its framing.

Battle framing

The game component turns useFocus on and writes the midpoint between the player and the foe, then lowers distance, to pull the camera into a duel shot. Turning useFocus back off returns it to the player.

SigmaCam — the Sigma Boy RPG overworld camera. A fixed-angle top-down chase camera. It sits on the scene's PlayerPrototype CameraRig, resolves its subject through the standard `Camera.follow` slot, and holds a constant downward pitch so the overworld reads as a top-down 3D map. The game component retargets it for battles by writing the focus override fields: `useFocus` plus `focusX/focusY/focusZ` aim the camera at an arbitrary world point (the midpoint between the two combatants) and `distance` pulls it in. Usage: entity(rig).component.add("SigmaCam", { pitch = 1.05, distance = 16 }) local cam = entity(rig).component.get("SigmaCam") cam.useFocus = true; cam.focusX = 4; cam.focusZ = -2; cam.distance = 9
