What it does

main

The Ridge Battery and the Dust Sea — the only scene in Railhead: Dust Sea.

What is in it

  • DustSeaGround — the baked dust_sea.terrain heightfield, 5.12 km × 8.96 km, wearing the dust_sea_ground four-layer blend material. Regenerate it with RhBake.terrain().
  • sun / ambient / sky — driven every frame by RailheadWorld off the run's time of day, so a twenty-wave run walks dawn → noon → dusk → night. The sky entity's colours, star intensity and turbidity, the sun's direction, colour and intensity, and the ambient fill are all written from that one clock; the values stored here are only the boot state.
  • RH_Shadows — the cascaded-shadow driver. Without it the directional shadow fits one camera-sized box and everything past ~1 km reads as fully shadowed.
  • RH_Probe — a reflection probe over the emplacement, so worked steel has something to mirror instead of going black.
  • RailheadWorld — the battle: wave director, machines, slugs in flight, the Rig, the wind, and the shared score. It also builds the Ridge Battery and the Rig geometry on awake.
  • RidgeCrew / BatteryPost — the player prototype and its spawn. The body is a crew marker other players can see; the camera rig carries RailheadGunner, which owns the gun, the scope, the post-process stack and every screen.

Player intent

"spawns". Each joining crew member gets their own camera rig, their own gun state (charge, heat, coolant) and their own HUD, over one shared battle.

The gun is not the camera rig's parent

RailheadGunner writes the camera's world pose directly each frame from the authored heading and elevation, rather than parenting the camera under the gun's elevation pivot. entity(id).transform.forward returns the local forward on a parented entity while entity(id).rotation returns the world rotation, so a camera inside the gun hierarchy reports a facing that disagrees with where it actually looks. Driving the pose from the angles avoids that entirely and makes the scope, the spotter cam and the recoil settle trivial to express.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

Railhead: Dust Sea — the Ridge Battery. scene.json carries the terrain, the light rig, the shared `RailheadWorld` battle, and the crew prototype whose camera rig runs `RailheadGunner`. This file only does the two things the scene graph cannot express: pin the world's background colour, and make sure the crew spawns standing on the pad rather than wherever a stale transform left them.
