What it does

emberline.ui.glyphs

EMBERLINE's display typeface: a 7-row pixel alphabet (A-Z, 0-9 and punctuation) emitted as a single SVG path, stroked for a hard one-pixel outline and filled with a gradient, with optional cast shadow, slab weight and a blurred halo.

local G = require("emberline.ui.glyphs")
G.node("FIGHT!", { px = 15, gradient = { "#fff3c4", "#ff9a2e" }, outline = "#0a0a0f", glow = "#ff6a00" })
G.measure(text, opts) -- logical width, height
G.svg(text, opts) -- the raw document

Sizes are in FONT PIXELS (px); the module reports the resulting logical size so a caller never measures type by hand.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

emberline.ui.glyphs — EMBERLINE's display typeface. The engine ships two text faces (monospace and proportional). An arcade cabinet needs a third: heavy pixel display type with a hard outline, a hot gradient and a cast shadow. So the face is authored here as a 7-row pixel alphabet and emitted as a single SVG path, which the `svg` widget rasterises at whatever size the layout gives it — crisp at any scale, and one path element no matter how long the word. Two faces: "block" the 5x7 workhorse — headings, labels, the timer "slab" the same skeleton with a one-pixel foot and shoulder, used at large sizes for the logo and the round banners Everything is measured in FONT PIXELS. A call fixes the pixel size (`px`) and the module reports the resulting logical width and height, so a caller sizes the widget from the text rather than guessing.

emitGlyph(parts: { string }, rows: { string }, ox: number, oy: number, px: number) → void

One glyph contributes a run-length-encoded rectangle per horizontal run of ink. Adjacent runs share edges; the fill pass paints over every interior seam the stroke pass draws, so only the silhouette keeps its outline.

Measure a string. Returns logical width and height for the given options.

svg(text: string, opts: TypeOpts?) → string

Build the SVG document for a string. The face is drawn as ONE path, stroked for the outline and filled for the face, with optional cast shadow and halo layers behind it.

node(text: string, opts: TypeOpts?, extraStyle: { [string]: any }?) → any

The whole widget node: an `svg` leaf already sized to its own text, so a caller never measures type by hand.

Every character the face draws, for a coverage check.
