Cell by Cell — the gridKit gallery
gridKit is a reusable grid and board kit for board games, tactics games, puzzle games, city builders and tabletop games. Install one package and a single line — Grid { shape = "hex" } — gives you a working board: hover lights up a cell, a click or tap places a token, and undo takes it away.
Walk the gallery
Step out of the spawn and walk through four rows of labelled boards:
- Grid shapes — square, hex with flat tops, hex with pointy tops and isometric diamond. Free play: click or tap to place, Z to undo.
- Eight highlight looks — crisp outline, solid fill, stamped decal, soft glow, chunky pixel, sci-fi hologram, dotted border and animated pulse, each on its own board.
- Four turn models — playable two-seat duels for alternating turns, initiative order, simultaneous turns and action points. Select a piece to see its move range, the path to any cell, and a line of sight that walls block, with the cover it gives.
What the kit does
- World point ↔ cell, neighbours and distance on every shape.
- Picking that works with a mouse, the screen centre, touch on a phone, or a keyboard/gamepad cell cursor — and your walking controls come straight back when the cursor closes.
- Pieces that cover several cells and rotate; placements that overlap or hang off the board are refused.
- Move ranges and paths that go around blocked cells; line of sight and directional cover.
- Step-by-step undo, save to a string and load back exactly.
- Turn models for two or more seats, swappable live, like the grid shape and the highlight look — each one setting.
- Events for hover, select, place, move, undo and turns.
- One authoritative board per room: every player sees the same tokens, while each player's hover stays on their own screen.
- English and Brazilian Portuguese text, and a test suite.
