28 metals you can drop on anything with one line. From mirror chrome to flaking rust, every surface is seamless, at real-world size and physically based. It plugs straight into the materialLibraryKit material library.
local Materials = require("~materialLibraryKit.Materials")
Materials.apply(cube, "brushedSteel") -- swap the name for any other metal
What's inside
- Steel: raw mill steel, brushed, polished chrome, galvanised sheet, corrugated sheet, diamond tread plate, damascus.
- Iron: cast iron; rusted iron in light, heavy and flaking stages; a triplanar rust for blocky shapes with no texture layout.
- Aluminium: bare, plus anodised red, blue and black.
- Copper and friends: new copper, green patina, hammered copper, brass, bronze, polished gold, polished silver.
- Painted steel panel with the paint chipped off at the edges and rivets.
- Stylised: toon steel, toon gold and toon copper on a cel shader, and a hand-painted iron.
Built to a standard
- No lighting painted in. Only bare metal is metallic, so rust, paint and patina aren't. Roughness matches the real metal.
- Seamless and true to size: 1 unit = 1 m, with 3-inch corrugation and 31 mm diamond-plate treads.
- Checked: every metal passes the library's own checks (render passes, seams, close-up and 30 m views, shimmer, web budget).
- Light: 50 MB of texture memory for the whole set, reference pictures included.
- Multiplayer: when one player puts a metal on something, everyone sees it.
The world
It opens straight into the swatch gallery. Every metal is shown on a wall, cube, cylinder and sphere with its reference picture beside it, under lighting you can switch live: daylight, overcast, golden hour, moonlight, warm interior and studio.
Install metalsMaterials from ZeroMind; the library core comes with it.
