renderer.letGo

The watch that releases a runtime texture, material, mesh or render feature mid-session once no script reaches a handle to it and nothing else holds it. It reads the renderer's handle sets every few dozen frames: a resource whose last handle the garbage collector took joins the watch and is judged against the runtime resource census, by the holders renderer.collect reads, and released once nothing holds it. A resource kept only by the component or scene load that created it stays while that owner does, and the log names an owner once it holds 64 of one kind that way, and again each time that count doubles. A render feature holds what it created through the handles it keeps and the passes it queues, which the census names as references, so a target whose handle the feature dropped and that none of its passes names any more is released while the feature stands.

  • new(host) makes the watch over the handle sets, census and release the renderer hands it in host, and answers { start, rejudge }: start() starts the task that reads the sets unless it is running, and rejudge(kind, guid) marks a watched resource due a judgement at the next reading.
