asset_inspect_render (module)
Turns an asset.inspect structured record into agent-readable markdown.
Pure Luau, no engine FFI — everything it needs is already on the record
it's given.
Exports
render(record) -> string— renders the common envelope (identity, typeName, scope, origin, description, tags) as a markdown header block, followed by a## Detailsection whenrecord.detailis a table. A type-aware layout is used for recognisedtypeNames (component,module); every other type falls back to a deterministic, alphabetically ordered key/value + nested-list dump.record.detail == nil(a type with no inspect hook) renders the envelope alone — no error. The origin line names the library an installed asset came from (origin.from) and, for an asset the engine's library carries by reference, the world that published it and the commit its bytes are (origin.world,origin.commit); an asset with both shows both. Missing optional fields (description,tags,origin.from,origin.world,guid,source) are omitted from the output rather than erroring.
Usage
local Render = require("modules.asset_inspect_render")
local md = Render.render(asset.inspect("@builtin::components.Camera"))
