dofChart

The depth-of-field reference: four focus charts at known distances under a lens focused on one of them.

Contents

• ReferenceCamera: an isolated camera on black at {0, 1, 0} looking down -Z.
• Lens: a DepthOfField focused at 4 units, f/1.4, 50 mm.
• FocusChart2m, FocusChart4m, FocusChart8m, FocusChart16m: the same chart of bar pairs (postReference_focusBars: four rows, 8 pairs across the top row, doubling on each row below, 0.8 on 0.03, unlit) at 2, 4, 8 and 16 units, each scaled with its distance so all four subtend the same angle. The 4-unit chart is in focus; the others are as far out of it as the lens puts them.

The scene's player intent is none. A chart's sharpness is how many of its rows still resolve: postMetrics.profile along a row reads the bar contrast.
