geometry.profile

The outline of a cross-section as an ordered ring of positions: what geometry.sweep, geometry.revolve and geometry.loft read a profile as. A geometry of one primitive, a curve or a single face, is its own ring, in vertex order; a geometry of several faces is the single boundary loop of its faces, walked edge to edge (core.boundary).

Inputs

  • profile (Curves or Surface). The cross-section: a geometry holding one curve, whose points are the ring, or faces, whose boundary is the ring.

Outputs

  • ring (Column<Vec3>). The positions in ring order.
  • closed (Number). 1 when the last point joins the first: the curve's own closed for one primitive (0 when it carries none), and 1 for a boundary loop.
  • segments (Number). How many sides the ring has: one fewer than its points, or as many as its points when it closes.
local outline = g.geometry.profile({ profile = g.curve.circle({ radius = 1, segments = 8 }) })
