files.read

Read a file from the world's virtual filesystem and return its contents as a string. Binary-safe — a PNG's null bytes survive the round trip.

Relative paths resolve under /source/. While play is running this reads through the play shadow, so a file written during this play session reads back as written rather than as it sits on disk.
