Give any world a living sky
Press play and watch a whole day pass over a little plaza in two minutes. The sun climbs, noon turns bright and clear, dusk glows orange, the lamps flicker on one by one, and the stars come out over a dark, moonlit night. Then the sun rises again in a warm golden dawn.
Open the panel on the left (press Tab to free the mouse) to try it all yourself:
- Switch the sky between eight looks: realistic, toon, pastel cozy, an alien sky with two suns, permanent night, an endless sunset, overcast and pixel art.
- Change the weather between clear, cloudy, rain, thunderstorm, snow, blizzard, fog and sandstorm. Each one fades in over a few seconds. Storms bring rain, wet ground, a darker sky, lightning and rolling thunder.
- Drag the time slider to any hour, pause the clock, or make the day longer or shorter.
Six lamp styles stand side by side so you can see them all at once: a street lamp, a hanging lantern, a wall torch, a neon sign, glowing cottage windows and string lights. Four clock displays sit around the screen: digital, an analog dial, a sun and moon arc, and a minimal one.
For creators
Everything here comes from worldClockKit, a package you can install into your own world, whether it is a farming game, a survival game, a horror game or a cozy hangout.
- Add one clock to your scene and set how many real minutes a day lasts.
- Every player shares the same hour, sun, weather and lightning, including players who join halfway through the afternoon.
- A day counter and four seasons, with longer summer days, for farming games.
- Events for dawn, noon, dusk, midnight, a new day, every hour, weather changes, storms and lightning strikes.
- Change the weather with one line:
Weather.set("storm"). - Every look, weather, lamp and clock is one setting away, and a catalog tags each one by style (realistic, cartoon, cozy, sci-fi, pixel, horror and more) so you can pick the ones that suit your game.
- Rain, wind and night sounds come from Soundstage, installed alongside it, plus the kit's own thunder and sandstorm.
- Built to run in the web browser.
Install it in your world
- Search ZeroMind for worldClockKit and install the package. Soundstage, which plays its rain, wind and thunder, is installed with it.
- Add one clock on a synced entity:
entity.spawnSynced("WorldClock").component.add("WorldClock", { dayLengthMinutes = 10, startHour = 7, sky = "realistic" }). - Light the evening with lamps: add a
WorldLampcomponent with astyleof"streetLamp","hangingLantern","wallTorch","neonSign","glowingWindows"or"stringLights". - From any script,
local Kit = require("worldClockKit.kit")gives youKit.Clock,Kit.Weather,Kit.Sky,Kit.LampsandKit.Displays.
The package's README has every call and setting, and its known limits.
