What it does

shots

The sixteen camera set-ups of FIRE FOR EFFECT, one per entry in Film.SHOTS and in the same order, plus the lens each one implies. Consumed by ffe.cinema, which evaluates it every rendered frame.

Exports

  • Shots.SETUPS — the sixteen set-ups. SETUPS16 is SETUPS1, the same table by reference: that equality is the film's arc.
  • Shots.eval(t) -> eye, aim, fov, setup, u — the camera at film time t. Anchors that are functions are resolved first, so the result is plain numbers and cutscene.evaluate never sees an entity name that might be gone.
  • Shots.focalLength(fov) -> mm — the lens a vertical field of view implies against Shots.SENSOR_HEIGHT (24 mm, full frame).
  • Shots.focusDistance(setup, eye, aim, u) — the rack the shot asks for, or the distance to what it is aimed at when it does not rack.
  • Shots.ridePosition(t) / Shots.shell(t) / Shots.rideDir(t) — the registration round's flight, which shot 6's camera rides.
  • Shots.check() — every station evaluated at its own mid-point, as text.

Places

HERO_MUZZLE, HERO_BREECH, HERO_CENTRE, BRASS_PILE, AMMO_DUMP, SPOTTING_MAST, EAST_LIP — where the camera stands and what it looks at, in one block, so a station can be re-read against the geography instead of hunted for inside a shot.

Notes

  • A named anchor is a preference, not a requirement. Four agents build this world in parallel, so a shot has to frame something whether or not its subject exists yet: Shots.named tries a list of entity names and falls through to a coordinate. Nothing in this file raises on a missing entity.
  • The ride is authored twice on purpose. ffe.battery owns the shell; when its entity is in the world the camera rides the real round, and when it is not, ridePosition stands in — fired at t = 30.5, through the deck at t = 37.6, onto the target at t = 40.0, the same three numbers.
  • ease is linear wherever the move has a stated speed (the shot-12 aerial at 14 m/s) and eased everywhere the move is an operator's.

Interface

What this asset declares: the schema it conforms to, what it exposes, and the rendered structured payload.

conforms to

zero/source-extract/v2

ffe.cinema.shots — the sixteen camera set-ups of FIRE FOR EFFECT. One entry per shot in `Film.SHOTS`, in the same order. Each entry is a cutscene shot in the engine's own shape (`pos` / `look` / `fov` / `ease`), except that an anchor may also be a FUNCTION of film time. `Shots.eval(t)` resolves those to plain world points and hands ONE shot to `cutscene.evaluate`, so the camera is a pure function of film time and the film can be run twice for the same picture. The lens is never authored twice: `fov` is vertical degrees and `Shots.focalLength(fov)` derives the millimetres the depth-of-field lens is built from, against a 24 mm (full-frame) sensor height. Shot 16 IS shot 1 — the same table, shared by reference, which is the arc's one structural promise. `Shots.check()` asserts it with `rawequal`.

focalLength(fov: number) → number

Millimetres of focal length for a vertical field of view in degrees.

vec(p: any) → void

Anchors resolved from the world when the world has them. An entity another slice builds is the better anchor — it is where the thing ACTUALLY is. But this world is built by four agents in parallel and a shot must frame something whether or not its subject exists yet, so a named anchor is a PREFERENCE with a coordinate behind it. Nothing here ever raises: a missing name falls through to the literal.

The cached anchor. Free to read, and never scans.

refreshAnchors(t: number) → void

Re-read the world's moving anchors. Called ONCE a rendered frame by `ffe.cinema.tick`, never from `eval`.

resetAnchors( ) → void

Put the anchor back where the film starts, so a rewind does not open shot 11 on the pile the previous run ended with.

Prefer the real round if `ffe.battery` has one in the world.

eval(t: number) → void

Eye, aim point and vertical fov for film time `t`, plus the shot it came from. A pure function of `t` and of where the world's anchors stand this frame — no wall clock anywhere.

focusDistance(setup: any, eye: { number }, at: { number }, u: number) → number

Self-check. Geometry only — no engine state, so it answers in edit mode and without the film running.
